Problems found with N/S cylinder head, during November 2001 meant that John Maher retrieved the Ghia back to his workshop for a complete overhaul. New heads were machined up, the engine was rebuilt and dyno tested again before it was returned back to me by John just before Christmas [December 2001]

The cylinder head fractured allowing exhaust gases to pass through, resulting in poor compression and therefore gutless performance, not to mention a very loud clapping noise.

These pictures were taken to communicate [by email] the problem to John whos workshop is in Manchester!

25.11.01 - Removed engine to ascertain actual cause of a blowing noise from cylinder 3 and progressive lack of performance. Found damaged cylinder barrel and cylinder head. Contacted John Maher Racing. Mileage reading 88694.
